Barry Clare - Chairman
Barry has extensive experience in strategy development and a proven track record in the healthcare industry. After 10 years with Procter & Gamble, Barry created Boots Healthcare International, ensuring the business became the fastest growing OTC company in Europe.
After BHI was sold to Reckitt Benckiser for £1.93 billion, Barry delivered major international brand successes including Nurofen, Strepsils and Clearasil. Following his role at BHI, he joined the Group Main Board at Boots.
Barry is a partner of Clarat, a specialist firm formed to participate in transactions in the healthcare, beauty, personal care and well-being sectors.
Dr. David Colin-Thome
David Colin-Thome was appointed as National Clinical Director for Primary Care in May 2001.
David was a GP from 1971 at Castlefields Health Centre Runcorn, retiring March 2007. His practice has been leading-edge nationally over the last 10 years or so, pioneering systematic management of long-term conditions employing managed care techniques.
David has considerable experience in the public sector having spent eleven years as a councillor and formerly senior medical officer at the Scottish Office and Director of Primary care at North West and London Regional offices. Former adviser to Central Manchester University Hospital 2004-07.
He also has been on many overseas advisory visits specialising in primary care development. He publishes regularly on primary care reform
David is the National Clinical Director for Primary Care, the Medical Adviser for the Commissioning and System Management Directorate and clinical lead for the eighteen week programme.
Dr. Manolis Heliotis
Dr. Manolis Heliotis is the Clinical Director of the Head & Neck Division of the North West London NHS Trust with responsibility for the clinical management of the Departments of: Maxillofacial & Oral Surgery; Orthodontics; Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery; Audiology; Ophthalmology. He is a fully trained and accredited Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with a substantive Consultant post at Northwick Park and St Mark's Hospitals in North West London. He has admitting rights as consultant to the Clementine Churchill Hospital, Trust Plus, St John's and St Elizabeth's Hospital, Spire Bushey Hospital and The London Clinic in Central London.
Dr. Wayne Hirschowitz
Dr Wayne Hirschowitz is a senior partner at the Practice on The Green Dental Care Center, also qualified from the prestigious University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa in 1988. Wayne went on and achieved a post graduate qualification from the University of Stellenbosch in 1998. Wayne is an experienced dentist and was a vocational trainer for young graduate dentists. He has a special interest in implantology and has completed the ‘Dr Mark Hamburger mini residency program’ in Harley Street. Wayne is an active member with the British Association of Forensic Odontologists.
Professor Phillip Harrison
Professor Philip Harrison is currently a consultant dermatologist at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust and Professor at Lancaster University. Graduating from Edinburgh Medical School in 1973, Professor Harrison has been a Consultant for almost 30 years. With a specialist interest in Teledermatology, Professor Harrison has spent the last 15 years practising and researching Teledermatology.
He has contributed over 200 publications and presentations, both national and international, to scientific literature. As well as a wide variety of clinical research projects, he has undertaken a significant amount of research within a number of departments at Lancaster University. More recently, his research has been on a much broader humanities basis, whilst studying for a PhD at the Ruskin Centre, Lancaster University. Professor Harrison holds numerous qualifications including: BSc (Hons), MB ChB, MRCP, FRCP (London, Edinburgh), MD, BA, PhD. Additionally, he lectures and tutors both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
