TELEDERMOSCOPY
Vantage Teledermoscopy increases the quality of diagnosis of pigmented lesions or moles in primary care by providing GPs with rapid access to expert dermoscopic investigations in compliance with current NICE Guidelines and the Cancer Reform Strategy.
Dermoscopy is a noninvasive method that allows the evaluation of skin lesions elements often not visible to the naked eye using a dermatoscope. The identification of specific diagnostic patterns related to the distribution of colours and dermal structures can better suggest a malignant or benign pigmented skin lesion. The use of this technique provides a valuable aid in diagnosing pigmented skin lesions. Because of the complexity involved, diagnosing using this methodology is reserved for experienced clinicians.
Research suggest that, in the UK, 1 in 10 people will be diagnosed with skin cancer. In particular, Melanoma rates are increasing faster than any other cancer and it is now the second most common cancer in young adults aged 15 to 35.
Vantage Teledermosocpy assists in the early detection of skin cancer often resulting in a substantially higher chance of cure.
As part of the end to end teledermoscopy solution, Vantage Diagnostics provides a high end dermatoscope device to it’s clients.
In a study evaluating the feasibility of teledermoscopy in the practice of eight dermatology consultants over a 10-month period. Remote expert diagnoses were compared to real-time conventional diagnoses. For the malignant melanocytic lesions the diagnostic accuracy of the teledermoscopy images was 94% compared to 75% for the conventional approach.
